chronOS

chronOS is a fully synthetic cancellous bone graft substitute, consisting of pure β-tricalcium phosphate. It is easy to use and has a clinical track record of more than twenty years. The use of chronOS is an advantageous alternative to bone harvesting. It shortens operative time, overcomes the limitations in quantity and quality of available bone graft and avoids donor site morbidity. Its strength is similar to that of cancellous bone and its scaffold provides an ideal structure for osteoconductivity. It is gradually resorbed and replaced by new bone; this remodelling process takes usually 6-18 months. chronOS can be used either alone or mixed with autogenous bone.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Remodels and is replaced by bone in usually 6–18 months
  • Osteoconductive material with interconnecting pores that allow a fast bone integration
  • Synthetic origin with consistent quality

Indications

  • chronOS implants should be used as bone void fillers or augmentation material in zones requiring cancellous rather than cortical bone
  • This includes the filling of bone defects after trauma, reconstruction or correction in non-load-bearing indications only
