Vertcem is a vertebroplasty system indicated for the augmentation and stabilisation of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, myelomae and hemangiomae. The surgical technique consists of a trans-percutaneous, trans-pedicular approach of the vertebral body using a guide wire and a side-opening injection needle. In a second step, bone cement will be injected through the needle inside the trabecular structure of the osteoporotic vertebral body. In general, vertebroplasty is a very successful spine therapy, showing about 80-90% of pain relief. Moreover, the Vertecem System increases safety through an objective and repeatable control of cement injection viscosity.
