Synthes and the AO Foundation donate implants and instruments worth $ 500'000 to earthquake victims in Pakistan
Solothurn/Switzerland, October 20, 2005Synthes and AO management and employees are shocked and saddened by the devastation and terrible loss of life caused by the recent earthquake in Pakistan. The company's and the Foundation's joint crisis intervention team immediately initiated a major logistical effort in pulling together various material from their distribution centers in the Asian region and shipping trauma and spinal fracture fixation devices from Europe to Pakistan. To date the equipment shipped amounts to approximately $500'000 market value. Synthes and the AO Foundation will continue to evaluate further medical requests for aid from the affected areas in Pakistan.
