Synthes is awarded the innovation prize "Industrial Logistics 2004"

Oberdorf/Switzerland, June 9, 2004

Today, Synthes received the "Industrial Logistics 2004" innovation prize which was awarded for the fourth year by the Swiss Logistics Association. This prize recognizes the outstanding performance of the Synthes logistics process.

"This innovation prize is a motivating recognition of a tremendous job the entire logistics team has accomplished. In less than two years, we set up a transparent and controllable logistics system", Jean-Pierre Graf, Vice-President Operations, commented at the award ceremony on the occasion of the fourth Forum for Logistics and Industry in Regensdorf (Switzerland). "We are proud that for once not only the company’s undisputed innovation in developing medical devices takes center stage, but that also the complex logistical competency of our company is honored", Graf continued.

On a daily basis, Synthes supplies over 20,000 articles to an average of 1,700 clinics in Europe. The annual volume growth of over 10% requires a constant fine-tuning of the company’s ability to deliver products as well as a continuous optimization of inventory levels. At the presentation in Regensdorf, Synthes demonstrated how it significantly increased order fulfillment rates over the last 12 months. This is only one of many consequences stemming from the award-winning Synthes logistics solution.
