The AO/ASIF is restructured and the AO Foundation is established in Davos. The AO Foundation is dedicated to basic research, development, education and clinical documentation.

1974

The entrepreneur Hansjörg Wyss founds "Synthes USA", which becomes the third industrial partner of the AO/ASIF. Synthes USA starts marketing Synthes products in the USA the following year and later also in Canada.

1970 – 1985

Straumann and Mathys expand their worldwide distribution. They found sales subsidiaries in the most important markets, with the exception of the USA, where they hire a distributor to sell their products.
